Our Journey & Technical Evolution

Unity Era (Foundation)

We started our journey using Unity, one of the most popular game engines in the industry. For years, Unity provided us with a powerful and flexible platform to create diverse games for mobile and other platforms. The engine's robust ecosystem and cross-platform capabilities allowed us to reach audiences worldwide and establish our foundation as game developers.

The Unity 6.0 Challenge in Hong Kong

In 2024, Unity announced significant changes to its licensing model, particularly with Unity 6.0. The new runtime fee structure and policy changes created challenges for developers in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. These changes meant that continuing with Unity 6.0 would require reassessment of our development strategy and potentially increased costs. Rather than being limited by a single platform, we saw this as an opportunity to diversify and explore new possibilities.

Exploring Godot & New Horizons

We began exploring Godot, an open-source game engine with growing community support and flexible licensing. Godot offered us the freedom to create games without worrying about licensing fees and provided excellent cross-platform capabilities. This transition allowed us to maintain creative control while exploring new technical possibilities.

Flutter & Cross-Platform Mobile Development

We also explored Flutter, Google's UI framework for building beautiful, natively compiled applications. Flutter's "write once, deploy everywhere" approach allowed us to create high-quality mobile experiences for both iOS and Android with a single codebase. This experimentation strengthened our ability to adapt and innovate across different platforms and technologies.

Web Games & Modern Development

Most recently, we've embraced web game development using modern web technologies like HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript. This shift enables us to create games that are instantly playable in any browser without installation, reaching millions of players worldwide. Web games represent the future of accessible gaming, and we're committed to creating engaging experiences on this platform.
